Just thought I'd post a few pics taken during our road trip thru Canada's majestic Rocky Mountains, by way of Banff and Jasper National Parks. The stretch of road from Banff to Jasper is with out a doubt one of the most picturesque we have ever been on, and was well worth the trip!
One of several beautiful waterfalls we spotted on our trip - distinct reminders we were in God's country!
Totally blown away by the crystal blue waters of Lake Louise!
Spent several pleasant hours watching this group of swans cross the lake. They finally got close enough for me to take a couple of descent pics!
View from the Gondola as we ascend Sulfur Mtn.
Banff from the top of Sulfur Mtn.
Don and I aren't really into crowds (lots of tourists in Banff) so we spent 9 days hiking through the back country near Jasper NP, where we encountered lots of wildlife. Spotted a moose calf running through the trees along this trail. Stopped for a couple of minutes expecting to see his/her mother come charging through, but didn't catch sight of the cow. Wondered if perhaps the calf was orphaned??
While we were setting up our tent, this little fella was chattering away at us, obviously disturbed that we invaded what he considered to be HIS territory!
Spotted these two does on an early morning hike to the top of the ridge above camp. I live for these magical encounters with wildlife when we're exploring the wilderness! Most of the time all you catch on film is their white tails disappearing into the woods! The doe on the left was the first to bolt, quickly followed by the other one. When I reached the top of the ridge they were no where in sight!
Ridge View from our campsite! Finally a good shot of the opposite ridge without cloud cover! Such an awesome adventure, and we spotted only 2 groups of hikers during our camping trip! Nights were a bit nippy, and it rained the first 3 days, but we enjoyed fantastic weather the last half of our trek into the back country!
