She was little Breezy’s only playmate, since Rocket and Cricket paired off as buddies. Bindi, was the quiet one of the litter, and always very patient with her little sister. She was Breezy’s protector, and often defended her in rough attacks by the other two dogs. After Bindi’s death, Breezy grieved for weeks, often looking around for her sister and looking so lost without her. On cold nights, they always curled up together, and were real bosom buddies.
Breezy was always instigating little play fights with Bindi, playfully tugging on her ears, and generally being a little pest (Something she could never do with the other 2 dogs). Bindi, being more reserved and far more gentle, was not one to roughhouse like the other two dogs, but she would often engage Breezy in playing tug of war with their toys. Watching them play together, I think Bindi knew that Breezy was a little different – being the runt of the litter, and tolerated her because of it! I am so glad the Breezy had Bindi to play with. Bindi did not behave the same way with her other two sisters – in fact she was the only one able to successfully challenge and take down Cricket on several occasions. Bindi was a lover, not a fighter, but if backed into a corner, she would absolutely explode, and never back down when an actual fight broke out. She never started a fight, but always finished it, if you know what I mean.
When they were little, Bindi was the escape artist of the group, and would often lead the other puppies in escaping from their bin when we took them camping! These jail brakes often occurred in the early morning hours while Don & I were still in our sleeping bag. And poor little Breezy was always left behind, because she just wasn’t big enough or coordinated enough to climb over the top of the bin. We could hear the puppies running all over the tent, getting into things. They were absolutely ecstatic with their new found freedom, and it was total chaos inside the tent!! After exploring the tent they would then wake up Don and I with sweet little puppy kisses! Don & I really cherish these early memories of the puppies, and how little Bindi would always want to snuggle with us under the sleeping bag.
Mommie & Daddy still miss you very, very much! You brought such joy to our lives, and no matter where we travel, you will always be in our hearts, and in our memories.
